VaporVM Hosts Cybersecurity Panel with IBM and INGRAM Sponsorship, Highlighting IBM QRadar Threat Management

In a session organized by VaporVM and sponsored by IBM and INGRAM, industry professionals gathered to explore the future of cybersecurity. The keynote presentation, delivered by Robert Lange of IBM, focused on the evolving role of artificial intelligence within IBM QRadar Threat Management, and how technology empowers — rather than replaces — security analysts.

Lange emphasized a key message: AI is not here to replace the analyst. While many organizations hope for automation that can “do everything,” he cautioned against over-reliance on AI. He illustrated the risks of autonomous systems, such as an AI agent mistakenly isolating a critical server on a high-traffic day like Black Friday — a decision that could cost an institution millions.

AI as an Assistant, Not a Replacement

Instead, QRadar’s approach is to provide AI-driven assistance. Through features such as the Investigation Assistant, the platform summarizes offenses, provides recommendations, and helps less-experienced analysts make quicker, more informed decisions. “AI can accelerate investigations, but the human analyst must always apply judgment and context,” Lange explained.

He also highlighted User Behavior Analytics and Network Threat Analytics, built into QRadar to detect unusual activity and critical anomalies in real time. These tools combine machine learning with contextual awareness, flagging suspicious behavior such as unauthorized access attempts or abnormal network flows.

Future of IBM QRadar Platform

The session concluded with a look at IBM’s roadmap for QRadar, including enhancements to the Investigation Assistant, the introduction of entity-based analytics, improved attack timelines, and low-code integrations to strengthen incident response. Lange reinforced that QRadar continues to evolve as a comprehensive threat management platform — not just a log manager — enabling organizations to gain visibility, context, and confidence in their cybersecurity operations.

Panel Insights on Cybersecurity Partnerships

Following the presentation, panelists discussed broader industry challenges. Aqeel Asim, CEO of VaporVM, emphasized that this collaboration between IBM, INGRAM, and VaporVM is “not just another partnership, but a strategy.” He noted that while the cybersecurity market is crowded with products, what customers truly need are trusted partners who can deliver end-to-end solutions and act as an extension of their teams.

“We are not selling, we are buying your risk,” he said, underscoring VaporVM’s long-term commitment to managing client exposure and ensuring they remain in good hands.
